Tulla Travel Bug Lounge (Melbourne Airport) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Partic: The time has come unfortunately to archive this very popular cache.

Following some serious garden trimming a few months ago at GZ, the location is extremely exposed to traffic and pedestrians.

The container is still intact and in my possession, but the location is no longer suitable.

Replacing it with a new cache a little further from the airport soon, though it may not be as convenient as this one was for foot travellers.

Thanks all for dropping in over time.

Patrick

Geocache Description:

Departure & Arrivals Lounge for Travel Bugs heading to and from Melbourne via Melbourne International Airport.

The purpose of this cache is to provide a convenient portal for Travel Bugs that want to head around Australia and the rest of the World from Melbourne Airport.

For those using the long term car park, access will be quite easy. For others, following Dak's directions for the nearby BT XV - YMML cache will help you. For those looking for a quick drop off, you can duck into the contractor's carpark behind the Astrojet building (see your Melways) and cross at the lights to get in and out without paying for parking. Alternatively, there is easy free short term parking near the Formula 1 Motel that will put you within 300m of this cache and BT XV - YMML. This is not the parking at McDonalds, but on the other side of the road (follow Sunbury exit).

Though it's mainly for travel bug movements it’s also a normal cache to log and do swaps as usual. It's a 6L container, so bring what you like with you to swap.

It should be fairly secure from Muggles but please make sure it’s well hidden again.

To make it fair for everyone, if you're taking Travel Bugs I'd ask if you could follow the following rules:

  • If a bug has been staying here for a long time, take them on domestic travels for a while.
  • Leave as many TB's as you like.
  • Place the TB’s in the appropriate bag so that it’s easier for those in a rush:
    a. Travel Bugs Bound for Melbourne & Mainland Australia
    b. Travel Bugs Bound for The Rest of The World
  • Note the TB name & mission in the log so others will know if they can help them on their way.
  • Only take one or two TB’s per visit if moving within the Melbourne.
  • You can take more than one if heading out of Melbourne, interstate or overseas.
  • Don't take them all unless there is only one left.
  • In the log, cross out the TB’s that you’ve taken.

  • Thanks to SWAG agg’s Travel Bug Connector at Sydney Airport for this idea.
