A traditional cache placed at the most high point of the mountain Imittos over the capital of Greece.
If you are afraid of heights then this cache is not for you.I placed it at a top spot of the mountain Imittos, over Athens,
at the altitude of 926 meters above sea level.
This spot can be seen from any place in Athens or from Mesogeia as well, as it is the area of the antennas
"village" at the top.You can drive your car up there if you take the road to the Kesariani Monastery or from the Papagou
cemetery.As you go higher and higher, the road becomes narrow at some points, so be aware.The road is asphault all the
way to the antenna "village".The cache area is some 100 meters before you reach the "village".
Higher than the antenna "vilage" to the south-east, the area is military and access is prohibited.
You can park the car near the point with coordinates N37 57.400 E23 48.963 where there is space for
two or three cars.Then you have to climb to the area with the bushes above.A good point to enter the bush area is
N37 57.409 E23 48.976
You have to find the right bush that holds the cache! The cache has some light rocks on it, to keep it stable there.
The cache consists of the following items: a logbook a pen and a pencil in a seperate bag, a geocaching declaration in
Greek at one side and in English at the opposite, an American geocoin, a PC-CDROM about cars (Automania), one small
plastic crab, one red aromatic candle, one pack of three white candles, one pack of six glass balls, a small plate
souvenir from Kefalonia island, and one white neck keychain.
The view from this spot is rare.Millions of lifes work and live at the city below.So many years a citizen of this city
and I had never seen it from this spot.Don't miss it you will be surprised with the view!
Keep in mind that it may be cold up there, so take with you warm clothes.
If you are a tourist to the city of Athens and want to find this cache, you have to hire a car, because it is quite
a distance to the top.With a mountain bike it is still a challenge for me.
