Travelling north from Wanganui up the Parapara highway to the
township of Raetihi. Turn left 1 km past Raetihi and descend into
the valleys.
The road is winding and quite narrow in places ( please take
care, travel slowly), sealed for all but the last 1 km.
Camping in the domain is free!! There are toilets and good
drinking water on tap but that is all. Take the tent or what have
you for an overnight stay. The river is great for a swim in summer,
freezing in winter, is abounding with trout. The peace and
tranquility (no cell phone coverage!) make it worth the trip.
Blue Ducks breeding on the river mean no to the pooch November
thru April. You may be lucky enough to spot a pair!

- Small piece of lava
- Surfboard Keyring
- 3 trout flies: 1 Redsetter, 1 Hamils killer, 1 green
beetle.
- A cork (sorry, bottle wouldn't fit!).
- Yellow Duck Hackey sack
