Gjellebekk skanse Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Makuta Teridax: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Due to lack of response from the owner, this cache is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Makuta Teridax

Beskrivelse:

The Gjellebekk entrenchment was a major defence bulwark during the great Swedish-Norwegian War in 1716. On the 23rd of March the Swedes attacked, but the entrenchment passed the test and King Karl XII was forced to return to Sweden defeated. Today the entrenchment is quite visible in the open terrain. There is an old marble quarry in the vicinity with an obelisk of 8 m height. There is a culture and nature path nearby. The Nature Reserve Gjellebekkmyrene with its rich flora and fauna is located in the area.
