Valley View (formerly Tornado Alley) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cpl Craig:
Other commitments mean I have not been able to do much caching or get to a couple of my remaining caches to check up on them so I am going to close them. I'll keep open those which are still in sound condition but if anyone wants to take them over I have no objections.

Dolphin was a great location and a bit of a challenge to access when close to but it seems that it has been muggled and the area has started to be used by inbreds. A similar fate seems to have befallen Valley View though I do recommend it as a great place to take your dogs, children and other pets. May not be quite so suitable for goldfish!

Air Power, Bivvie Bash Remembered and Cpl Craigs Big Bang will remain active but if anyone local to them would like to take them on just let me know as I am unlikely to be able to find the time to get back into geocaching for quite a while. Just ad-hoc stuff as and when for now. :(

Geocache Description:

This is an easy find though you may have to take a little care not to be spotted. Not suitable for disabled access. Excellent place to take your dogs or children for a leg stretch and run-a-bout.

This cache was originally put in this location in March 03 and its taken us two years to get it online, despite several check-up visits! Blame a very busy period and a bout of ill-health. The cache itself was originally known as Tornado Alley but was relocated. If its any consolation we have also missed entering several of our finds (logged in notebooks at caches but forgotten when we returned to the 'puter). We are back now and hope to start finding... and hiding more caches again.

This was the site of a large estate manor house (no remains now) and was also used as a POW camp during WWII.

The view, especially on a bright sunny day or at night, are a pleasat surprise.

We have more than once played rolling down the hill. If you follow suit do check in with your psychiatrist afterwards ;) and take care to miss the stoney bit and the nettles!!!

If arriving by car you may find parking awkward. I recommend you avoid the quarry entrance - BIG trucks! There is a lay-by area on the bend and just towards the village there are other places you can pull in.

If you have a bit of spare time head into the village through the remains of the old estate gate posts. At the end the road bears sharp right. Go over here and on the left you will see an unusal cemetary/memorials.

Have Fun. :)
