How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Attention Geocachers of South Eastern Washington and beyond. It's a Family-Friendly gathering, so bring the kids!

If you are bringing so Travel Bugs or Coins to be "discovered" or "retrieved" from the event, please try to make a list of them on paper and bring several copies. This will make it easier for everyone to enjoy them and spend more time enjoy the event than walking around trying to gather all the various numbers.

If you would like to email you list to us, we will try to make a bunch of copies before the event.

You might be a cache-aholic if:

...the trunk of your car looks like it could be placed and hidden as a super-sized cache.
...when talking to people you realize their ears would be the perfect hiding spot for microcaches.
...you often find yourself at the $1 store just to purchase swag.
...you often find yourself in a public park, frustrated after a search and realizing you didn't bring any children to help confuse the muggles.
...while at work when asked where the staff meeting is you quickly respond with the coordinates.
...on more than one occassion you have found yourself signing your checks and other "real" paperwork TNLNSL.
...you suffer emotional distress after a DNF or celebrate excessively after a FTF when beating Debiko to a local cache.
...during good weather, a trip from Tri-Cities to Seattle has ever taken you 400 miles and 6 hours.
...you had a "ticking" experience and still went into the brush the next day.
...you used your gps to find this event.

If the above list is bringing on deja vu, this event is for you! And even if it just made you chuckle come join the local cache addicts for a good time!

The celebration (or is that commiseration?) of all cache-aholics will be held at the above coordinates on Saturday, September 16th from 11am-3pm. There are plenty of activities for kids: playground, climbing wall and wading pool.

The food for this event will be potluck-sytle. Please bring a dish to share with our fellow addicts. The 5Tucks will be providing hot dogs, condiments, lemonade and smiles. Please remember sunscreen, chairs for sitting, laughter and as always caching tales for a good time!

A mingling geocaching game will be included with prizes available! (If you have a geocaching themed prize you would like to donate to the event, please contact the 5Tucks.)

Bubbles and other goodies will be handed-out to the younger cache-aholics attending.

For those who are not addicts:
Where: Howard Amon Park in Richland, near Sturgeon Cove Playground.
When: Saturday, September 16th from 11am-3pm
