Geocache Description:

This is an easy find and although modified, holds true to geoscout305's original intent. Should not take long, but does require a camera.

The original cache was a false book on tape container. That section of the library is being phased out - thus this transition in position.

STEP 1: The listed coordinates will take you to the front of a certain, important building here in Walla Walla. There will be an obvious sculpture at the site (described below*). You need to take a picture of yourself with the sculpture and submit for a "found" listing.

STEP 2: Proceed into the building. You are looking for a particular book. It is not in card catalog - oops - I mean the computer system. Rather than just give it to you, we decided to mask the location with a bit of word play. You are looking for "Correspondence Originating At Terra Firma" by Clemens, Samuel in the Grown-Up Inventive Story section of the library. (Title, Author, and Section in synonym code.) The cache is highly visible, once you are in the correct section of the library.

Building hours are:
Mon-Tue :: 12pm - 8pm
Wed :: 10am - 8pm
Thu-Sat :: 10am - 5pm

*About the sculpture:
"Matilde On Her Way to the Market," is by artist Nano Lopez. The Blue Mountain Arts Alliance was awarded a grant by the Sherwood Trust making it possible for all of us to enjoy Matilda. Nano Lopez lives locally.
Nano Lopez was born in 1955 in Bogotá, Columbia. Recognition of his artistic ability came early in life when he was awarded First Place in a municipal school drawing contest. By the last few years of high school he was making serious copies of Michelangelo’s sculptures.
In 1978, Nano began working with the renowned sculptor Francisco Baro, where he worked on a monumental scale carving marble, granite, and fabricated steel. It was in Madrid that he began casting his own works in bronze and had his first solo art show. Nano then made his way to France where he continued to study and show his work.
Returning to Bogotá, he built a studio and put to use the methods he had learned in Europe. In 1983, he moved to the Pacific Northwest of the United States and began work with Manuel Izquierdo, head of the sculpture department at the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
Surface texture is an important element in all of his sculptural work. The combination of his classical training and experimentation with materials has led to the production of avant-garde art which combines aesthetic considerations and rich textural surfaces - causing the viewer to rejoice in the character of his subjects.
