This is one of our Egdon caches. It is a simple offset cache located in the heart of ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ country. Information about T E Lawrence can be found at www.lawrenceofarabia.info and from many other sources.
The co-ordinates will take you to a small car park. It’s about 500m S of Clouds Hill, the cottage where Lawrence lived until his death in March 1935 following a motorcycle accident near this spot. Here you will find a memorial to Lawrence and information boards about the Royal Armoured Corps. Sometimes, you can view tanks being driven past.
A certain tree was planted in the year ABCD. The cache is located along the path at N50 42.C,(C-A),(D-A), W002 14.B,(A+D),(B-D). It is a 13cm long cylindrical plastic container so small items only, please.
Bovington Tank Museum is situated 2km S of here. For those with an interest in military history, it’s well worth a visit.
