Geocache Description:

Do Malibu and Redwoods sound like distant places? Visit this cache and experience both in one place. This cache replaces my Forest Trail Cache that was lost in the great flood of 2004/5. Since it is relocated, previous finders can do it all over again. This is a beautiful trail. The Redwoods trees along here are not native and are probably 90 years old.

The container is a camo plastic jar that smells from garlic. It is 5 1/2 inches in diameter and 10 inches high.

This cache is in Malibu Creek State Park. There is an $12 parking fee to park in the main lot and the State Park System really could use the money. (You can park free near other entrances to the Park.) The cache is near the end of the Forest Trail, but on the opposite side of Century Lake from Crags Road. Distance from the main parking lot is 2.5 miles to the cache. Please don’t try to shortcut by crossing the dam or swimming across the lake. Trailhead coordinates for the Forest Trail are: N 34 06.137 W 118 44.309. This trail is named for the forest of Redwoods planted by a prior owner. The trail is very unusual for Southern California lowlands in that it borders a lake and is under large trees. The cache is at a pretty remote place in this busy park. While you are there, check out the dam, just beyond the cache site. To access the container climb up a few steps and see the cache behind a rock with some sticks on top to confuse muggles that might be climbing the wall.

If the water gets high enough to wash this one away let's hope that someone is building an ark.

Some previous comments about the garlic odor are:
Eureka! Or should I say you-reek-a garlic! This is the most odiferous cache yet! Peee Youuuu!
If the lid wasn't on tight, you wouldn't need a GPS to find it, just your nose
I almost took the PEZ but the idea of garlic flavored PEZ didn't work well for me.
Took garlic flavored Pez, left tiger.
Cache reminded me of trout fishing with dad using garlic cheese for bait. Thanks for the memories.
It seems that even the nearby rock outcropping is taking on the aroma!?
Walking through the trees smelling the pine, all of a sudden, I smelled garlic, this must be the place.
Opening the cache caused a school of catfish to poke their heads out of the lake thinking maybe dinner had arrived. If you have fangs and are afraid of the sun, I recommend skipping this one.
Took: In the smell of garlic, Left: ......
