Geocache Description:

Located just outside the City of Orillia, this cache remembers a portion of Samuel de Champlain's travels in the 17th century.

Please be sure to seal the lid to prevent leaks before you leave. Thanks.

"The Central Ontario Geocachers Series has been placed by a group of cachers to further promote caching in our area. These caches will take you to places that we know and love as residents of the area and we hope that you will enjoy them as much as we have enjoyed placing them! Our area is one of the most beautiful locations in Ontario being bordered by the Oak Ridges Moraine to the South, and Cottage Country to the North containing Highlands, Lowlands, vast forested areas, lakes, rivers, and wetlands."

This is an offset cache so you will have to do some math to find the container. The listed coordinates will take you to a plaque on which you will find some dates. Use these dates in the following expressions to come up with the numbers for your projection. This will lead you to the final coordinates.

From the plaque, the cache is located "BH" meters away on a bearing of "AEB" degrees true.

________m @ ________deg.

Where: "ABCD" is the year Champlain travelled this trail.

________

Where: "EFGH" is the year the modern road was cleared.

________

Placed for the COG Spring Fling April 30, 2005
