D'oh!!! Elvis Has Left the Hat n' Boots!!!!!!
The listed coordinates lead to a spot where there is an informational sign [otherwise known as a street sign]. If you look to the northwest from the sign you will see the original location of the Hat n' Boots that you will find at the final cache location. Find out about them here.
A gas station operated here for many years. The hat was on top of the building where you paid and the boots were the bathrooms. It is rumored that Elvis, but not Homer Elvis, gassed up at the station.
On the informational signs there are three different sets numbers. The largest number is coded ABCD and the smallest number is coded EFG (the middle number is irrelevant). Add E+F+G together, multiply by 100 and then add that number to the sum of EFG to get the last three digits of the final cache latitude. Multiply the sum of A+B+C+D by twenty. Subtract 16 from that number to get the last three digits for the longitude for the final cache. Bring your own writing implement.
Park construction started in November 2003 but it took on real meaning with the move of the Hat 'n Boot structures to the park on December 13, 2003. The move was accomplished in two stages starting on December 12.
The Georgetown Community Council, in collaboration with Seattle Parks and Recreation, began restoring the Hat 'n Boots in November 2004.
