Geocache Description:

In the early 1900's there were several ageing Confederate Veterans in Alabama who were in need of assisted living. !I??????????????????›???????

In 1902 Jefferson Manly Falkner, an attorney from Montgomery, donated 80 acres of land in Mountain Creek, Alabama to be used at the site of the Alabama Confederate Soldiers Home. At its peak between 1914 and 1918 the home consisted of 22 buildings and housed over 100 people, both veterans and wives. The home officially closed in October, 1939. This is one of a series of micro caches. I hope you will take time to enjoy the beauty of the park and envision what it may have looked like back in its prime time. Enjoy your hunt!
