Geocache Description:

Gilmorton is of Saxon origin. The name Gilmorton may come from 'guilden', translated as golden fields of wheat. 'Morton' is the Saxon term for enclosure or homestead. At the time of the Doomsday Book in 1086 the population was around 140, today it is just under 900. Traditionally the local economy was based on agriculture, many of the original houses being built by farmers, there are still many working farms in and around the village.

****** PLEASE NOTE THERE IS CURRENTLY NO CACHE AT THIS LOCATION PLEASE FEEL FREE TO TREAT THIS AS A VIRTUAL CACHE AND LOG IT AS FOUND IF YOU FIND THE LOCATION ******

The waypoint supplied is the start point, it is close to Gilmorton School so probably best to avoid pick up and drop off times, you will need to follow a route through the village to gather clues for the final coordinates, it is a mile to get round and back to the start and can be done in around 1/2 hour. Most of the route is on public footpaths across fields and styles, some of the fields are a little rough and it can be muddy so no high heels.
