Geocache Description:

This cache is located on lands under control of the Lackawanna River Corridor Association. Its purpose for operating such lands is to provide a place for citizens of the Lackawanna Valley to be able to walk, cycle, and study nature. I originally had a single cache here but have since upgraded to a multi-cache.

The ideal parking spot is at N 41°31.537' W 075°32.779. Although the round trip is about a mile, this cache is an enjoyable walk on flat, hard packed pavement. Just watch out for cars from time to time, people from the sewer authority use this road to go to work. It is expressed and desired that to thoroughly enjoy this cache, you walk to it.

The first cache site takes you to a piece of land that juts out into the Lackawanna River and is surrounded on one side by one of its tributaries. This entire piece of land once used to be a combination paintball field/dirt bike riding site that has since been improved in an environmental way. Take a look around at the trees and feel free to take pictures, as I consider this a very scenic site. This is also a great lunch/picnic site, in my humble opinion. The first cache is a simple 35mm film canister that has coordinates for the second part. It shouldn't be too hard to find.

The second cache site is particulary picturesque and is located across the river from a dam house. Fragments of the dam wall can be found both on land and in the river. Remants of the dam also exist on the opposite banks of the Lackawanna. Take some time to explore the unique rock formations in this area as well as the riverbed habitat. One of the most interesting sites on this part of the river is right when you walk off of the hard pavement and on to the mulch. Before you take a turn, take a right towards the river -- you will see the rock formations smoothed out by the river. The second cache box is a small Tupperware container.

Please remember to cache in and trash out, trade small items , sign the logbook, and criticize/praise this cache here.

Happy caching!
