Geocache Description:


This cache has been placed with the permission of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, College of Natural Resources.

Please use established trails. Established trails may be accessed behind the main buildings. They are well marked, wide and mostly grass covered allowing for a nice easy hike with minimal elevation change.

Getting there: Follow the County road signs to the Treehaven property and park in the main parking lot. Parking Coordinates:

Main Parking Lot at the Treehaven Facility (good parking spot if you plan on finding both "Treehaven" caches): N45 29.985 W089 33.040

Alternate parking coordinates for quick in an out to Treehaven Beaver Cache only (trail off main road with gate preventing motorized vehicle access): N45 30.122 W089 33.425

The Treehaven Beaver Cache gets its name from a combination of two things unique to this site. First off, Treehaven. Treehaven is a residential natural resources education and conference facility owned and operated by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, College of Natural Resources. Treehaven rests on a glacial ridge overlooking 1,400 acres of forest and wetlands. It is home to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, College of Natural Resource's (CNR) Summer Field Training program so it may be a busy place during the early summer months. Chances are you may encounter students navigating through the woods.

Treehaven is touted as an ideal Northwoods location and facility for programs and meetings that celebrate and educate, and welcomes groups wishing to host conferences and meetings in a relaxed natural setting. Among the many workshops hosted at this location are those offered by the Becoming and Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program which offers outdoor skills workshops for women. After a successful cache hunt be sure to stop by and visit the Trailside Nature Shop in the main building if it is open or perhaps enjoy a picnic lunch in the gazebo overlooking a scenic pond (behind the maintenance buildings).

The "Beaver" portion of this cache name comes from the abandoned beaver pond in the vicinity of this cache. A beautiful stream, crossed by a newly constructed boardwalk, meanders through the area and makes this truly a unique spot.

The cache itself is a medium-sized plastic container that has been wrapped in camoflauge duct tape. It contains a typical assortment of miscellaneous trinkets for trading. Enjoy the hike and the opportunity to view the area wildlife.

This may also make an ideal winter cache as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are allowed on designated trails.

Once again, we ask that cachers utilize established trails.
