This is a large park with a lot to do. It is called Kenmin no Mori
or Prefectural Citizen's Forest. Going North on 58, it's a little
past the Miyuki Beach Hotel. Park hours: 9:00AM ~ 6:30PM (April ~
August) 9:00AM ~ 5:30PM (September ~ March) & Closed
Mondays. Camping season is April 1 to November 30.
It is in a large forest that is well run by the prefecture. We
spent most of our time on the playground. The kids really liked the
spin around thing and the trolley ropes. There is also a museum
that we did not visit and a lot of well marked hiking paths. After
placing the cache, we did walk up a well marked path to the left of
the park; it led up to a nice view of the valley out to the ocean
(start at N 26 30.218 E 127 54.653 … note, we had already
placed the cache before going here). The trails go all through the
large park. We will have to come back later to explore the park
more … the kids wanted to spend most of their time on the
playground equipment. The difficulty is based on the numerous trees
making the GPS go in & out. If it is too hard to find, the hint
should make it easy. The cache is small, and it is stuffed full to
start, so you will have to bring small stuff to switch out. Each
family member of Porter6 picked one item from home and one from the
100 yen store. It started with: Cheshire cat figure, leaf-shaped
chopstick holder, wooden whistle, 2 shells, hello kitty eraser, 4
dinosaur erasers, 2 colored stick erasers, change pouch, hot wheels
car, wrist compass, carabine hook, 2 pokemon cards, and the
required note pad.
