Geocache Description:

There is parking for at least two vehicles at the site.

When this ditch was hand-dug in the early 1920's to control flooding in Black Lake, it created the largest island in the United States. It reopened the ancient channel that once carried four times the present volume of the Columbia River, creating the depression that is now Black Lake and cutting the wide valley that now carries the Chehalis River. The Black Lake Ditch connects Black Lake to Percival Creek, thus forming the 6,667 square miles Mt. Olympus Island.
