In Harriman Park, NY near The Timp off of the old Blue Dot Trail.
Wonderful views south and to NYC. It received a NY State Parks
Permit #H05-3 in July 2005.
Kamikaze Ledge is a favorite hiking destination for many Kamikaze
Kanoers and other Scouts that enjoy hiking and exploring Harriman
Park. The Kamikaze Kanoers are a canoe racing team that participate
every year in the General Clinton Canoe Regatta in Bainbridge, NY.
They have been racing and earning trophies for over 25 years.
Geocachers can park at Anthony Wayne, off the PIP and follow the
trails to The Timp. The Old Blue Dot Trail (Unmarked Trail on the
map--it connects to the Red Timp Trail) is off of the Rampapo
Dunderburg Trail (Red Dot markers)just east of Timp Pass where the
Red Cross trail starts. Several cachers have had trouble finding
the beginning of the Old Blue Dot--the waypoint is N41 16.560 W74
00.276. Scouts can leave camp and follow the Scout Trails to
Kamikaze Ledge. There is a natural trail off of the Old Blue Dot
trail leading up to Kamikaze Ledge. It goes to the right of the big
boulder. For safety the cache is not near the edge of the ledge.
Geocachers can get permission to park at camp and use the Scout
Trails by emailing the cache owner.
