Geocache Description:

Old Lock 23 on the Erie Canal

This cache is near an old canal lock. You can see where there were 2 locks side by side here. You can see where there are indentations for the old lock gates. This lock is about 3/4 of a mile east of the 'newer' lock 8 on the Mohawk River/Barge Canal.

Container is a blue Nalgene bottle. In it are a Colorado Rockies travel bug, a couple hot wheels, a key and a Canadian Loonie.

There are 2 entry points.
One is at N 47 49 01.1 W 73 57 18.9 . This is the most used entry for this path, and is 2.5 miles from cache.
The other one is N 42 49 43.1 W 73 59 28.9 about 3/4 mile away.
