Ever since I was a little kid, I've loved climbing things - especially trees. I have many fond memories of playing in the woods outside my house while growing up, climbing trees, tree-bending (it's an art form), swinging on rope swings, you name it. My Dad even hung up a giant cargo net for my friends and I to climb on (and get filthy in the process).
These days, when I go caching, I still often find myself climbing trees - especialy palm trees leaning out over water. I just can't resist!

Thanks to last year's hurricanes, there are lots of trees over water for me to climb.

Sebastian Creek (March, 2005): This was one of my favorite tree climbs... other than the 26 splinters
I had to have removed from my hands and feet, of course. I thought about putting a cache up here.

I've been wanting to place a cache high in a tree for quite a while now, but I haven't been able to find the perfect tree. That all changed when I did this cache a couple of days ago. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one.
If you do decide to try to get this cache, I would recommend going with a friend. You might want to try to spot it from the ground before you go after it, to help plan your route, but it is camouflaged, so you might not be able to see it until you are well on your way. After your ascent, please do not remove the cache from it's location - In other words, don't forget to BYOP! To get credit for a Find, you MUST sign the log book yourself.
A few words of caution:
-It's more difficult going down than it is going up, so keep that in mind.
-I was wearing shorts and a tshirt when I placed the cache, and I left with a little less blood than I came with.
CLIMB Spoiler Photos (9/13/05)
This cache isn't as much about the hunt as it is about the CLIMB, so I have decided to post a few spoiler photos. If you don't want to look at them, don't look at them, but they are here for those who do.
Spoiler Photo #1: View from *FORMER* parking area (there are now No Parking signs here, so you will need to park somewhere else). The CLIMB tree can be seen in the background.
Spoiler Photo #2: Cache location as seen from the east - it's actually higher than it looks.
Spoiler Photo #3: Extremely zoomed in photo of the cache container.

10/3/09 UPDATE: There are a couple of new 'No Parking' and 'No Trespassing' signs just to the south of the cache (the old and easiest access point). The No Trespassing signs are not for the area where the tree is located, but are for the FPL land to the west of it. Please review Grasshoppers&Ant's 10/3/09 log below for a detailed analysis. This cache is still legally accessible, but as always, do so at your own risk.
