Geocache Description:

FAILURE TO EMAIL ME THE ANSWER AT THE TIME YOU LOG THE CACHE WILL RESULT IN YOUR LOG BEING DELETED Roadside-can be viewed from vehicle- handicap accessible. I WILL DELETE ANY SPOILERS(LOGS/PICTURES) THAT INDICATE WHAT THE OBJECT IS THAT ANSWERS THE QUESTION.

Take Hwy 169 east of Ely, MN to Co. Rd 88(Grant McMahan Blvd, then north to the Echo Trail (Co Rd 116). Follow the Echo Trail to the above co-ordinates.

A geological fault is a line along which the rock layers have shifted. (You may be familiar with the San Andreas Fault in CA, USA).

Both Somero Rd. and the structure you are trying to id (not the snowmobile or ATV trails) were constructed by taking advantage of the natural 50-foot deep, 200-foot-wide valley which was formed by the more rapid weathering and erosion of the fractured rock along the fault zone.

On the Precambrian (older than 600 million years) Vermilion Fault, there has been about 1 mi. of vertical movement as well as 12 mi. of horizontal movement, with the north side (Vermilion Granite) moving east relative to the south side (Newton Lake Formation). You will also see the Vermilion Fault if you do my DRY LAKE or DRY FALLS AT BASS LAKE caches.

To get credit for this cache, email me the answer to this question: Go to the waypoint. What is the man-made structure you see on the EAST side of the ECHO TRAIL that has been built in the valley? FAILURE TO EMAIL ME THE ANSWER AT THE TIME YOU LOG THE CACHE WILL RESULT IN YOUR LOG BEING DELETED
