This web cam is located at the Wessels Living History Farm near the
I-80- Highway 81 interchange at York, Nebraska. The 145 acre
physical site includes a house that David Wessels and his brother
lived in for a period of time when they moved to town. It's typical
of farm architecture of the early 20th Century. The house was
donated to the Living History Farm project by York College and
moved to the physical site in 2002. The site also includes a barn.
The red, timber frame giant reflects barns typical of the 1920's,
the era chosen for the Living History Farm to interpret. In the
future, an event center may hold offices, meeting places, and
displays. The physical site will bring to life the history of
agriculture for local visitors. The farm is not open to the public
yet but the web cam can still be used to claim a find for this
cache.
To receive credit for this cache, you pretty much are going to
need a friend with Internet access and you will need to have a cell
phone. Have your friend go to the webcam at Wessels Living
History Farm Web Cam Link You go to the coordinates listed in
the cache description. Your friend may want to go to the web sight
before you get there so they are familiar with the operation of the
web cam, as the camera is fully controllable from their computer.
The following are the instructions some taken directly from the web
cam websight: Click the "Start Control" button. You will either be
given control right away or, if others are already in control, be
placed in the queue. If the box above the button turns green,
you're in control and the box will tell you how much time you have
left. If you get the heads icon, it means that you're on the
waiting list and the numbers tell you how much time until you're in
control. Next have your friend click on the drop down menu of
preset camera positions and find ”Truck Stops” The camera will be
in the right position for the picture taking. To identify yourself,
hold your GPS and a light colored piece of 8 ½" x 11” paper in your
left hand have your friend capture a photo of you holding them out
in front of you facing the camera that is located on the roof of
the barn. You may either have them use control + print screen keys
and paste it to a photo editing program or the little camera that
is just to the right of the preset camera positions and use the
Control + S key on the image and “Save Picture As…” to save it to
your friend’s computer. You will need to post this photo within a
week of your log. An example of the "Truck Stops" preset is shown
below. You should just post the web cam picture and not as much as
the sample. Thanks and good luck
