This is a park-and-grab that will take you to a Pocket of Time!
This location, Riley Cemetery, was scouted out by my neighbor. When I told her what we were up to with Geocaching, she suggested this spot, a window into days gone by in Texas history. Note the grave of a Confederate War Veteran. Please do not disturb the broken headstones. Hopefully they will be repaired one day. I have to wonder what it was like to sit atop this hill and look out over the prairie 150 years ago, before any of the roads, houses and people were here. Now it's just another crackerjack-box housing development. (My apologies to anyone who lives in this neighborhood! But you have to admit, the pioneer families would be astounded to see us living on their prairie in these little brick boxes where we can look out of our kitchen windows right straight into our neighbor's bathroom windows!) But I digress.
I am posting a photo of the Historical Marker that looks to be good enough that you can read it, if you're a History Buff.
And don't spend way too much time worrying about everyday muggles (as long as they don't look malicious), remember you're not doing anything illegal! This is a public spot. If someone cares enough to walk over and see what you were doing after you leave, well then you've introduced someone else to this fun sport right?
