Geocache Description:

Along the North Country Trail

We had thought about placing a cache near here, and when we picked up the NCT TB on a trail segment near Battle Creek a couple of weeks ago, that was a sign to do it soon, so we did. This cache was created to help this TB reach its goal of visiting caches along or near the North Country Trail, and to provide a fun adventure for cachers too, of course.
Enjoy a nice hike on the NCT with a scenic view of Eagle Lake . The cache is located just a short bushwhack away from the trail. It is the traditional ammo can in the woods hide. There is a FTF prize.
It would be best to approach this one from the SW as there is a lot of private property on the N side of this lake. There probably are other ways to access this site, but the recommended way will require a hike of only about ½ mile round trip.
There are trailheads at the N on Starvation Lake Road (1.25 miles to the cache as the GPS points , and S on the corner of County Rd. 612 & Sunset Trail (much farther). There are a couple of other roads where the trail can be accessed, and possibly some nearby two tracks.
We have mt.biked and hiked this section between the two trailheads (9miles) and it can be quite hilly. There is also a spur trail to the Pickeral Lake campground nearer to the Southern trailhead.
We hope you enjoy this scenic spot and the short hike along this awesome trail.
