This multi cache consists of a calculation for part 1 and a .30 cal. ammo box final. A walk in the woods less than 1/2 mile each way.
This cache is located at the Blue Circle Deer Mountain Nature Trail in the town of Coeymans, and it is my second cache placed in this park. Take Albany County Rte. 101 to Jarvis Road to Deer Mountain Village Road. There are signs at each intersection. Park at N42° 29.797’ W073° 51.183’ at the end of Deer Mountain Village Road.
The posted coordinates will take you to the sign with a map. Look at the east trail on the map. There are 16 circled points on the map (E-1 through E-16) each circle corresponds to a interpretive sign along the trail. There is a list of all of the signs. To calculate the coordinates for the final, you have to do some simple math.
Here is an example of how to do the math: Point E-2 on the map is Erosion, so (Erosion x 5) = 10 (2 x 5)=10
The north coordinates for the final is at N 42 29.4YY (YY is a 2 digit #)
YY= (Flood Control x 3) + (Ecological Niches x 2)
The west coordinates for the final is at W 073 51.2ZZ (ZZ is a 2 digit #)
ZZ= (Wetland Ecosystem x 3) + (Red-Spotted Newts x 4)
From the sign go to the east trailhead and soon you will go up alot of steps. Continue on the trail above to the final cache. The final is a .30 cal. ammo box just off of the trail. This trail has numerous signs telling of the geology, plant, and animal life in this area.
