How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A quick little 2-part multi (.5 mi loop) at my favorite local park. Choate Park features a pond, stream, playground, ball fields, tennis courts and a fitness trail. Skeeter-y at final during the summer.

Parking: Rt 109 to Mechanic St - At end of road turn right onto Oak St - Park in lot by the waterfall.

Cache Parts:
1. Thumb-sized hang-tag wrapped in camo tape PLEASE note how wire loop is attached to the nail and REPLACE USING LOOP - even give it a little twist, so it stays put so this doesn't go missing again.
2. Lock n lock - medium size so plan trade items accordingly

Please use stealth - at times this park is very busy! Also, please replace stages carefully and securely to ensure they remain hidden from the many casual observers who frequent the park. Have fun!

If you happen to stop by The Enchanted Fox (on 109 near Mechanic St) say hi to the owners Paul and Rose! Every surface of the lower level of their building is covered with an AMAZING hand-painted mural.

Bit o’ history:
Chicken Brook was used to power several businesses, including a sawmill, a tannery and a carpet mill. The most important business on Chicken Brook was built by Cephas Thayer on the current site of the Chicken Brook Light Manufacturing Center. This building is the old stone mill, and was built from a single enormous boulder that was quarried nearby. To power this textile processing mill Mr. Thayer dammed Chicken Brook, producing Park Pond, which is now the focal point for Choate Park. (Source: "The New Grant: A History of Medway", Francis D.
