June gatering of the State Of Franklin Geocachers
This event is the monthly gathering of the State of Franklin Geocachers. Our gatherings are open to any and everyone who caches or is interested in caching. It will be held at the picnic area of S. Holston Dam from approximately 10 am til 2 pm. **PLEASE NOTE** Reservations are not taken for the picnic / grilling areas, I will be arriving there early in the morning to try to secure a large section for us.
There will be a TVA representative in attendance to talk about geocaching on TVA property and also tell us about their various recreation areas across the Tri-Cities.
For those attending, please bring a food item, this will be a pot-luck picnic. Please list the item you will bring so we can try to have a variety of items. There is a chicken place as you turn up to the dam with some great chicken, taters, biscuits, and slaw, if you should forget the grub just drop in there.
I've seen many event pages with travel bugs stuck in them for ages. If you would like to bring a tb to trade, please trade individually with one another to avoid any confusion or questions with a tb's where abouts.
One of our new cachers, altosaxplayer, has expressed the desire to give some caches as door prizes. I haven't been able to secure any other door prizes from any businesses but I do plan on having an event cache as a door prize. I will bring an ammo box and ask people to donate a trade item. The ammo box with it's contents will be given away as a ready to hide cache to a lucky cacher.
Following the gathering, you can enjoy the trails that branch out from this area. There's some caches nearby that can show you the beauty this area holds. I hope to see everyone there!!!!
