Geocache Description:

This short multi-point cache is located close to an old schoolhouse on a narrow parcel of crown land in the Marlborough Forest south of Ottawa, Ontario.

Located about 600 metres up McKenna Road off of Roger Stevens Drive (about 1.5 km west of Dwyer Hill Road). If you're interested in hiking or x-country skiing, there are approximately 9.8 km of trails in the schoolhouse area (not including the Rideau Trail - obviously ;-0).

Now on to the cache...
Using waypoint 1 above (N45 02.281 W75 53.366) you will find a memorial plaque. (plaque is reported missing - see photo below or use Feb. 4 1995) On the plaque is a date. From the date, take the year and call it XXXX. Now, using this number calculate the coordinates to the next waypoint by doing the following:

North: "YYY"=(XXXX-1746)
West:  "ZZZ"=(XXXX-1188)

Now substitute "YYY" and "ZZZ" into N45 02.YYY W75 53.ZZZ

This will yield the coords of Waypoint 2.

(Don't forget to sign the schoolhouse log book before taking off for the cache.) Waypoint 2 is where the cache is hidden. Get hopping grasshopper!!

Old Schoolhouse Cache is in a small plastic container (please snap and re-seal lid tightly) and contains some cache swag, a logbook, and pencils.

Enjoy your trip back to school - and when you get in the schoolhouse warming up by the woodstove - no standing in the corner for old time's sake. ;-] That was for both Cliffy and Binthair!!! LOL!! (PS: Congrats, you found the hidden comment)

NOTES:

  1. Please keep the old school house clean - cache in, trash out.
  2. Water from the nearby pump is not tested for drinking.
  3. Wear appropriate clothing - bugs can be thick depending on the time of year (mainly horseflies).
  4. Winter friendly. Schoolhouse has a woodstove to help warm you up.
  5. Ideal for night-time raids.
  6. Word of caution, poison ivy was spotted in the area. Wear long pants (or wait for snow).
