Geocache Description:

Situated at a interesting coastal location, you must pass a display of Dinosaur's footprints, a working quarry, an abandoned cave and a ruined harbour to find this cache!

A word of Caution: The path to the cache takes you past a working quarry where blasting operations occasionally take place. It is best if you try to find the cache outwith quarry working hours.Weekends and long summer evenings would be ideal.Follow the instructions below to safely access the cache. First, if going by car, park opposite the Junction of the B9040 Hopeman to Lossiemouth road and the B 9012 Duffus to Hopeman road.(Landranger Map 28 Ref. 158 698. There is enough space for a couple of cars beside the newly erected gates. If the spaces are occupied, try accessing the site from Hopeman instead- please do not park on the Hopeman-Lossiemouth road! Go through the gate and walk north about 300 yards then turn right along the road to the quarry. After a further 200 yards, take some time visit the display of pre-dinosaur footprints next to the green Moray Coastal Path signposts. Double back a few yards, then take the left hand road leading downhill to Clashach quarry. (Keep small children beside you). Stay left and make your way down a rugged path (one part is partially covered by gorse)- this will take you past a cave occupied until last century by the keeper of the small harbour that once serviced the quarry.Look at the carvings above the entrance to see the type of ship that collected the sandstone from the quarry. Take the path to the right and walk over the ruins of a building jutting from the grass. Follow the sandstone cliffs round to the right and you'll soon find the cache under some stones. The cache is hidden in a plastic container.
