Geocache Description:

The original ammo can has been replaced by a decon contatiner. There has been a lot of brush clearing around here lately and there wasn't enough cover left for a larger container.

To protect settlers from Indian attacks a fort was built in 1849 where the present Tarrant County Courthouse stands. Settlers then felt safe enough to venture further west. In 1851 the first log houses were built in the area that would become Arlington Heights. Isaac Thomas established a farm and was one of six residents in the area by 1856.

The only remnants of the farm are Thomas Place Street and the two acre Thomas Place Community Center, formerly known as the old Thomas Place School. Unlike most Fort Worth caches this is a regular sized ammo can.
