This cache does NOT contain any of the following; mind numbing
math, secret codes, cryptography or hidden coordinates and if you
remember the area before July 4, 1958, then this cache might seem
pretty obvious, but for the rest a little detective work might be
the order of the day. I gave this cache a three star rating for
difficulty because of a built in geographical red herring. With old
picture (above) in hand (or photoshop'ed) read the following verses
for hints and inspiration, grab your trustworthy gpsr and turn your
watches back 60 years. Satellite images might also be useful as you
toggle from past to present in this four dimensional hunt.
The long ago days,
are becoming a haze,
as my memory slips,
gone are the ships.
No more cattle or wheat
or farmer to meet.
The view of the land
is no longer as grand
and is only a sliver
because of the river.
To solve this riddle,
find the field in the middle,
in a ladder of seven,
now on an island of eleven.
There in a field of gold,
near the fence standing bold,
a stately elm tree,
there to greet thee.
In a island of stone,
the mighty tree had grown,
until its final days
and now there it lays.
Now the young trees
sway in the breeze,
they shade and adorn
and protect with thorn,
each night and day
beside the parkway.
Simon of past fame,
an island with his name,
where none ever stay,
or even come to play,
but now armed with leads,
they seek bobbles and beads.
No longer driving fast,
they now look into the past.
Searching the old ashes,
looking for those caches,
where villages, once alive,
only memories now survive.
Cache container is a 4-6 litre expandable container,
camo’ed and contains the usual essentials.
UPDATE:OCT 2007, check Nov. 11 2006 log for upgraded cache and
minor location adjustment.
