There were 3 caches placed in Thief River Falls back in 2002. These were some of my first finds. Unfortunately, all 3 were plundered or stolen within a year or so. To revive Geocaching in our fair city, I decided to place the first multi-cache.
The steps will take you to a couple of points on the “Riverwalk” and the entire cache can be done on foot, if desired. (About a 4-mile round-trip walk.) If traveling by car, each stop is just a short walk from your vehicle. Enjoy the scenery along the way and good luck!
The final cache is a yellow plastic container. It’s about 7 inches square, and 2 inches wide so bring something small to exchange. Initial contents will be the usual trinkets and treasures, notebook, pen, pencil, and stash note.
At your first stop, you will learn a bit of area history. There is a plaque with a map on it. Use this resource to answer the following questions.
How many otter pelts are mentioned?
Subtract 100 from this number, the result is A.
How many beaver pelts are mentioned?
Subtract 1500 from this number, the result is B.
What year was the map DRAWN?
These 4 numbers are C,D,E, and F respectively.
The coordinates for your second stop are:
N 48-07.A W 096-B.0F4
How many posts are holding this structure up?
This number is K.
Multiply this number by 4, the result is L.
The coordinates for your third stop are:
N 48-06.KCD W 096-10.DL
How many barrels of flour did the mill produce daily?
Subtract 50 from this number, the result is M.
The coordinates for the final cache location are:
N 48-06.4M W 096-B.0L
