Folklore has it that there was once a miner who lived along this creek who slept out in the open every night. One night, he couldn’t sleep because the moon was shinning off of the creek and kept him awake. The other story has to do with the making of corn liquor many years ago in this same canyon. Whatever the correct story is, the creek now runs through a very nice campground.
I have the owner’s permission to place this cache on private property. You are even invited to have lunch in the campground’s picnic area or fish along Moonshine Creek. Just drop by the office and let them know that you are here to have lunch.
