Learn some of the history of Chadds Ford in this great multi-cache. You also get to find out about an interesting trail that’s a little different than others in this region.
Please bring something concerning area history – souvenirs, small trinkets, etc. to trade with in the cache. If you don’t have something and the Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Visitor center is open you could buy something small there.
Free parking is available at the Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Visitor Center at coordinates N 39°52.501 W 75°35.546. You will need to park here for both the first leg and 3rd and final leg of this multi cache.
Follow the cache's coordinates above to your the first leg’s spot. Look for the green number. If you have problems getting to the first set of coordinates because of recent flooding you can get the number using an alternate method in the hint section. To get the second set of coordinates use the green number as X in equations within the parenthesis of the following coordinates:
N 39°52.(622 - (X * 72))
W 75°37.((X * 170) + 19)
These are the coordinates for a parking lot of a historical building. Park and check out the building’s exterior. You will see a date near the top of the building. Use this number as X in equations within the parenthesis of the following coordinates:
N 39°52.(2192 - X)
W 75°35.(2180 - X)
Hope you enjoy learning about Chadds Ford. Make sure you visit the interior of the buildings when they are opened in late spring to early fall…. Or check out some of the events which can be found on the website or posted on signs around the buildings. If you happen to do this around 5pm on Weekends you can purchase fresh bread baked in a historical building – some of the best bread in the region. Also, if you see any employees of the Chadds Ford Historical Society let them know you found them doing this Geocache. They’ve been extremely supportive of caching and this cache!
