In 1966, the far
fetched science fiction television series of “Star Trek”
made its debut. By the 1980’s Dr. Mark Okrand had developed an
artificial language for the Klingons, arch enemies of the
Federation.
In this cache, you will be required to change Klingon into
English
for the coordinates with the on-line Klingon script.
Make a copy of the ten Klingon digits for use in the field to

Below, you will find what could have been one of the strange
scenarios
of the once popular television show.
A red light began
pulsating rapidly on the console of the USS
Enterprise, flagship of the Federation of Free Nation Planets.
Ms. Uhura, Communication Specialist, reached up and turned
the hot com switch to the automatic exchange position. The
caller’s
identity illuminated the screen, and indicated an urgent
message
from the President of the Federation.
“Mr. President. This is an honor,” Ms. Uhura greeted him in
awe.
“Ms. Uhura,” began the President, “I must speak with
Captain Kirk as soon as possible.” His image on the softly
glowing
screen appeared somber and grave.
“Sir, he is with Mr. Spock on the Planet Emiqwees for the
5000th anniversary ceremony. I’ll call him immediately.” She
deftly
reached for the personal contactor and pressed number one.
Captain Kirk and Spock were sitting on the platform behind
the introductory speaker at the Great Hall auditorium when the
captain’s personal contactor began vibrating in his pocket.
“Who could be calling me at this inopportune moment?” he
thought. Carefully, he held the communication device to his
ear
and pressed the receive button.
Spock turned his gaze toward the captain and saw his face
turn pale as he rose from his seat. The audience hushed as the
captain put his hand on the speaker’s shoulder and softly spoke
into his ear.
As the captain and Spock quickly left the auditorium,
the speaker announced, “Please excuse Captain Kirk and Mr.
Spock.
We have just learned that the original “Declaration of
Federation”
document has been stolen !
Shortly afterward, when the captain and Spock had been
beamed back aboard the USS Enterprise, an inquiry was made into
the details of the theft and a broad search was begun to
determine
who the culprits were. All evidence and witness reports pointed
to
the Klingons as the masterminds behind the theft. A law
enforcement
ship was launched in pursuit of what appeared to be a Klingon
Bird
of Prey ship in the area of the museum, when the fleeing vessel
suddenly disappeared. The nature of the slip gave rise to the
speculation that the Klingons warped into another time
dimension
in order to make good their escape.
Meanwhile, a partial communication in the Klingon language
was intercepted around the time of the chase and copies were
sent
to all of the Federation member planets in the hope that
someone
would be able to translate the tricky script to determine it’s
relevance.
All efforts proved fruitless.
Special teams were then warped into the past and copies of
the Klingon communication were published in certain books in
such
a manner as to not disturb the course of events but with the
hope
that someone would eventually come along who would discover the
script and work at it until they made sense of the writing and
search
for the “Declaration of Federation” to keep it preserved for
future
generations.
One of those books was found recently on our own 21st
century
Earth. If you would like to try your hand at finding the document,
you
can begin by trying to translate part of the writing, a copy of
which
can be seen via the link to the photo below.
Caution: If the sprinklers are on at the park, come back later.
Sometimes,
they mess up the sprinkler schedule which usually operates at
night.
