Geocache Description:

Cache is a small pipe, capped at both ends, in the midst of the Elk Hills Oilfields. You do not have to go over any fences in this area to get the cache. It is a simple drive up, find and sign, and you're off.

Just to the West of this cache is the Elk Hills Power Plant putting out 500 megawatts of electrical power: enough to supply 500,000 homes! Two jet engines turn huge armatures insides the packages you see. In addition to that power, you stand smack dab in the middle of one of the largest oilfields in the country. Occidental Petroleum produces over 130,000 barrels of oil and gas equivalents per day out of this area! Definitely, a center of power for California! My office is only a few hundred yards west of this spot :)
