Geocache Description:

the cache is a 12 inch metal box containing baseball cards hidden in the administration of justice office at yuba college. it is dedicated to willie mays--probably the finest baseball player of all times.

willie played center field for the ny giants who became the sf giants in 1958. in the 1954 world series he made what many people believe to be the greatest catch ever. he had a great arm; he was a daring baserunner; he batted over .300 (lifetime average of .302); he hit over 600 homeruns; and has been inducted into the hall of fame.

enter the campus at the eastern entrance and drive south on yolo street until the road ends. on your right will be a brown door, behind which the treasure lies. park in the small gravel parking area. if it is full then park under the trees about 50 feet to the south. do NOT park in any numbered or reserved space. enter the brown door (marked "office," room 726) and announce: "i am a geocacher and i would like to see the prof's silver box." after receiving the cache you may wish to sit on the bench in the rose garden in front of the building to examine its contents and sign the log. to open the padlock on the box, use willie's career batting average as the combination number. the cache is available during normal working hours (8 am to 5 pm) monday thru friday.

thanks is due to mr. schoessler and his fine staff for their cooperation with this project and their support of the wonderful world of geocaching.
