Geocache Description:

Geoluau II - The Return of Manulani

Is that a humuhumunukunukuapua'a
in your pocket
or are you just happy to see me?

It's time to luau again!

WHERE? Jarstad Park in Gorst
WHEN? Saturday, August 13th from 11am until sometime after dark.
WHY? Because we have to! Well, not really...but we're gonna.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT? Games, things for kids, food, and lots more lusty tales of caching! We have special permission to have dogs in the park even though it's stated that they aren't allowed. We will ask you to keep control of your dog and clean up after it. There is plenty of off street parking along the paved road into the park. The picnic area is covered and has lots of tables although if you'd like to sit in the grassy area you'll want to bring your own lawn chairs. There is running water at Jarstad Park and the bathroom facilities are plumbed.

KIDS THINGS
We'll have a pinata for the kids again this year. There will be sponge soaked water balls, the shark toss game and more.

FOOD?
Oh yeah. Plenty of it too. We'll be bringing the kalua pig again. For those of you who don't know what that is...if you've ever been to a luau and they bring that whole pig out of the pit in the ground...it's that sort of pork.
We'll also supply a few other tid-bits but we'll ask you to bring your own drinks (alcohol is not allowed in the park) and, if you can, something to add to the food table. There is electricity in the picnic area so if you have a crockpot item we can supply power for it. There is a BBQ grill there so if you'd like to grill some dogs or hamburgers please bring your own charcoal, meat and flipping utensils.
Later in the evening we'll blaze up the campfire and have Smores!

GAMES?
There will be several games this year.

GPS ACCURACY GAME
We'll be having another GPS Accuracy game, similar to but not exactly the same as the one Dick (W7WT) and his intrepid crew put on at the Spring Fling. This time there will be two ground zeros...one Garmin site and one Magellan site.
The 'entry fee' to the accuracy game will be for you to bring a suitable, caching related, prize. One prize per game. Everyone entered will win a prize. Those closest to ground zero will be the first to pick from the prize table.
Many thanks to Dick and his posse; Belleterre, Ajetpilot, The4Grays, GeoDiver and Semper Questio (if we can get him to fly up from Texas).

HERE'S HOW THE GAME WILL WORK
Upon arrival at Jarstad Park you will check in with Belleterre who will be through the tiki arch at a table. You will give her your 'entry prize fee' and she will give you a number, a numbered flag, coordinates to the bridge to get to the sites as well as the coordinates to the site of your choice. KEEP YOUR NUMBER!

NOTE: Get your name badge here as well. Please put your cacher name and real name on the badge. We gotta start putting names and faces together!

You may go to either the Garmin or the Magellan site. Either Steve of the 4 Grays or Dick (W7WT) will set ground zero at the Garmin Site. The Magellan site will be set by none other than Mr. Magellan - GeoDiver. As soon as we get around five or so working the site we will shift the next group to the other site so we can measure the distance from ground zero and also take the bearing and remove the flags. The data will immediately be forwarded to the message board near Belleterre where it will be listed and plotted for you to see.

There will be two sessions this time!

The first will be from 1100 to 1230 with the prizes awarded at 1330.

The second session will be from 1500 to 1630 with the prizes awarded at 1730.

As long as you donate quality prizes you may enter both sessions if you wish. Each prize will be tagged with your Geocaching name. That way you will know who to thank for the prize that you select.

The crew has doubled in size to better serve you. They are:

Dick (W7WT) Contest Director
Megan (Belleterre) Vice President in Charge of about everything
Bruce (Ajetpilot) Field Director
Rick (GeoDiver) Magellan Site Manager
Steve (4Grays) Garmin Site Manager
Howard (Semper Questio AND Mark's brother all the way from Round Rock, Texas.... IF he can make it) Assistant to the Vice President and Guy Friday
As you can see we are all High Ranking Officers.

A WORD ON APPROPRIATE PRIZES FOR THE GPS GAME
An appropriate geocaching prize would be something you would take out of a cache or would like to find in a cache. Geocoins, pre-made caches, first aid kits, flashlights, headlamps, walking sticks, multi tools, Swiss Army Knives, etc. are acceptable. What is not acceptable is anything that is used (with the exception of ammo boxes), any McDonald's toy, any cheap kids toys, Travel Bugs and lame swag. Belleterre will be signing people up for the game and will have the final say so on whether or not your entry prize is appropriate. No whining! We still aren't providing a Chaplain.

HAWAIIAN ATTIRE CONTEST
There will be prizes awarded in the male, female and kid category for the best Hawaiian shirt and/or mu'umu'u. We always encourage guests to wear their best and brightest at our luaus and this time that shirt your mom gave you...the one stuck in the back of the closet...could win you a fabulous prize! Shop99er will be the judge of the contest and since his Hawaiian shirt collection numbers 200+ he thinks he's pretty well qualified. You don't need to bring an 'entry prize' for this contest. Just show up in your best and brightest and we'll do the rest.
