During the summer months, Lake Samish is a free-for-all of waterskiers, jetskis, and speedboats. The west end of the lake is much less congested, and provides a perfect setting for an enjoyable afternoon of exploring by small watercraft. The cache is located about a half-mile from the Lake Samish county park, along some scenic shoreline towards the west end of the lake. Once you reach the coordinates, you'll be looking for a green camo bison tube hanging over the water tied to a cedar branch. No need to get out of your boat, just drift up and grab the cache.
On a quiet day, the reflections in the clear, cool water are amazing -- sky and water and mountains and trees all becoming one. Enjoy the journey...
During the summer months, Whatcom County Parks rents canoes, paddleboats, and the like from Lake Samish Park, or you can bring your own small boat and launch from the park or nearby boat ramp as well. On nice summer weekends, you may also be asked for a $4.00 day user fee if you are not a Whatcom County resident, so come prepared (although it's rarely collected).
This cache is not accessible overland -- do not attempt to cross private property to reach this cache from the shoreline.
