In 1997, President Clinton signed a bill that designated fourteen of America's rivers as "heritage rivers". The Detroit River is the only one in Michigan. The Canadian government in July, 2001, also designated the Detroit River a Canadian heritage river. Based on the work of fellow cachers, sisturus and hard oiler, I decided to place caches in the parks along the Detroit River. The fourth of these caches is located in Tricentennial State Park.
This is a three step multi cache located in the newest and possibly the smallest state park, Tricentennial. Tricentennial State Park and Harbor is located within walking distance of the GM world headquarters. The final stage is a small container with log and pencils. It will not support items for swap nor travel bugs. Take notes from the first two stages, to solve for the final stages. Remember, fishing muggles abound. And beware of the nesting Canadian geese throughout the park. They can be very protective of their little ones.
At the given coordinates, you will find the first stage. It is a piece of art that depicts a significant time in the history of the Detroit waterway. There are several numbers on the structure. You will want to jot down how many FEET are mentioned (this is A).
Stage two is located at: N42* 19.938 W083* 01.539. Count the TOTAL NUMBER OF LETTERS in the three words on the sign at this location (this is B).
Stage Three can be found by using the information gathered at stages one and two to determine the latitude and longitude. Latitude is N42* 19.558 + A and longitude is W083* 01.560 + B.
I have placed a Jeep travel bug on top of the cache as a FTF prize.
