Geocache Description:

Elevation: 1543 This cache was placed very close to the Government perimeter fence, on the south side of Kanopolis Lake. Will require about a mile hike and some steep climbing, not steep enough for climbing gear however.

This is a beautiful area, you will find an oak grove, large sandstone outcroppings, a fairly deep ravine with a spring fed creek at the bottom. Lots of deer, turkey, quail and buzzards in this area. It is on public hunting ground, so use a little common sense when seeking the cache, like not during deer season.

While carrying the container in, this B-52 made a low pass, con trails telling where he had been, the sweet harmony of multiple engines, how did the Air Force know we needed a flyover for this cache?

The container is a 50 caliber ammocan. You will find it tough to get good satellite readings, so the hint will be a dead giveaway, well sort of.

Where did the name come from? I obtained a Travel Bug from Diasphenne at their Bug in Yer Lunch Event. The goal for this bug was to see as many scenic Kansas locations as possible, The key belonged to her grandfather and was the key to his home. He did not get to travel far and she hopes the key can virtually take him places he would enjoy. Anybody who loves the great outdoors will love this location. I'll post a few photos, but they will not do it justice. The TB number is TBJJN9 if you would like to track it's travels.

Oddly, I saw no poison Ivy today, I am sure it is to follow though. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy the cache.

I had a couple of cachers have a close call with some large rocks here. There are some very large rocks nearby and the slope is steep, this is a fairly physical cache. It may be in your best interest to take somebody along, or at least let somebody know where you are going. I have been back here several times over the years, one of those little favorite spots. :) Have fun and be safe. Glen
