The cache is up in the hills twixt Nelson and Hebden Bridge very near to Widdop Revervoir, a stones throw from Burnley Way.
Widdop Reservoir was built for Halifax Corporation between 1871 and 1878. Five-and-a-half miles of horse-drawn tramway was also built to deliver materials to site and service the various locations. The engineer was Edward La Trobe Bateman who had been to the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, and the valve house at the south end of the dam incorporates an Egyptian influence.
The land on the north side of the road here is part of a large Site of Special Scientific Interest designated by English Nature because it is an excellent example of Pennine moorland.
Good walking in the area but please keep dogs on the lead due to sheep and birds nesting.
The area is where I walked 'Sally' my dog, and the 'leap' she made will be pretty obvious as you near the site.
The cache is a small tuppertware container.
