Geocache Description:

Please be respectful of the neighbors residing around each stage, and please be discreet as all of these areas can be very busy at certain times!!

Please note: Stages 3 and 4 are in an area that is closed between 8 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. This cache will have to be completed during the day!

This is a 4-stage multi with an ammo can cache. There will be short driving distances between stages Or if you feel the need for some exercise it is a nice walk or bike ride (2.4 miles round trip). The terrain will go from flat to quite hilly. To showcase the three lakes that are inside the city limits of Greenville, we are placing one stage at each lake.

The first stage takes you to Baldwin Lake (69 acres). This lake was the place to go for entertainment from the late 1800's on. With carriage rides around the lake, an aerial ride which traveled from ridge to ridge above the site of the coordinates for stage one, and numerous pavilions that offered dinners and dancing as well as picnics, boating, and swimming.

Stage two will take you to Manoka Lake (11 acres) otherwise known as Fatal Lake. This lake was so named for the legend of an Indian maiden named Manoka who was eloping across the lake with her lover, when her father, to stop them, shot the man with an arrow. Manoka held him in her arms until they both sank to their death. The body of Manoka was never recovered and to this day it is considered bottomless.

Lake Como (23 acres) is the last lake on the tour. It is believed that this lake was so named because an Italian man on the survey crew who first surveyed this area, may have suggested "Como" for the lake in his native country.

We hope that you enjoy this tour of our lovely lakes. The cache is filled with fishing-type items, and if trading, please keep this theme in mind. Thank you!
