On this spot once stood "The Little Cabin on the Plains." It was a small
cabin, not much larger than a deer blind. Had no water or electricity... but it
had light fixtures and large TV antenna anyway. All that is left now is a pile
of boards and memories.
These are pictures of the Cabin taken in 1996 before it was torn down.
The KompassKids have rescued many of the signs that once graced the
Cabin walls with Yooper flare. Once restored these signs will be used as
decorations of the KompassKids Hall of Shame at Camp Dar.
(100 years ago, a logger named Kingston cut the white pines whose stumps you can
see now. This area is still called Kingston Plains. Logging railroads and side
tracks covered this area. You are standing on a piece of history.)
