Geocache Description:

A gentle stroll around a quiet little village, with plenty of opportunity for Pooh Sticks!

The co-ordinates given are for the suggested parking place for this multi-stage cache, as the route is circular. From here there is a mixture of walking along country lanes as well as through fields (there are several stiles, 2 main roads and a rail crossing so this isn't really totally suitable for buggies etc). At each of the waypoints there is a number to find, and these will go towards finding the actual cache.

Waypoint 1 is at N53 01.187 W000 59.299 - how many horseshoes are here? The answer is A

Waypoint 2 is at N53 01.032 W000 59.578 and is the first PS place. B is the number above 'AV'

On the way to the next point you will pass a former cotton mill. Here in 1799 a boy called Robert Blincoe was brought from London along with 80 other children to work in the mill. His plight was a real version of that described by Dickens in Oliver Twist - indeed his life story was first published in 1832 just 5 years before the more famous novel.

Waypoint 3 is at N53 00.891 W000 59.481 and you need to work out how many hours the shop is open in a 'normal' week - the answer is C (if you are doing this cache during British Summer Time, subtract 3 from the total to get C). While here you might like to savour the delights of this award-winner (or call in after completing the cache!).

Now you need to cross the main road with care and over the stile into the field. Waypoint 4 is the stile at N53 00.726 W000 58.965. Cross into the small field and count the trees actually in it - the total is D.

By the time you get to Waypoint 5 N53 00.746 W000 58.788, you could have had another PS session, or even tried the ford! At the waypoint, look back at John Potter's handiwork you've just passed through and add together the number of diagonal pieces plus the number of white signs on it, the total is E
That's the last waypoint, now some maths then on to the cache. From the numbers you have gathered you need to derive three more:-

F = B + E
G = C + 3 + D - A
H = A + D

The cache is located at
N53 00.F58
W000 G.HD8

The cache is a clear plastic tub with a range of goodies! There's another PS opportunity close to the cache location as well as some active sand quarrying which has resulted in some RoW diversions.
