torrey pond Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

MainePublisher: All geocache placements must have a responsive owner. The cache owner must be able to respond to issues that come up and to submit an "owner maintenance" log to remove the "needs maintenance" icon.

In addition to the "needs maintenance" logs and DNF logs, Goundspeak also uses a Health Score algorithm. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713

In this case, Groundspeak has sent an email to the cache owner with no response. The cache owner did not respond to any of the cachers hoping to find the cache and did not respond to the reviewer note so the cache is now archived.

The cache location is now open for any Geocacher to place a new cache, including the original cache owner.

Geocache Description:

torrey pond is a beautiful pond in the middle of deer isle. the pond is an excellent place for fishing for bass. there is a place to launch boats but the the woods road leading to it is very majorly rutted and the ruts are full of water and mud in spring and after heavy rains. getting to the pond means walking past areas that could use some major cito. the woods road begins by the deer isle transfer station and there is litter on that end of the road.

near the cache, there is an ice shack that has fallen apart, with more litter and some broken glass. my sons fish there occasionally and tell me that the litter is a new thing - they said it has always been very clean there. i hope to do some cito when i go back to the area. the best place to park is opposite the driveway to the transfer station.

when you reach the part of the road that has water on both sides (the pond will be on your left), go a short distance further and there will be a road to the left. the cache is in that direction and is an ammo box.

directions:

about 4 miles after the deer isle causeway, turn left onto quocko road (at the monument) just before deer isle village. the transfer station and woods road are at the end of this road.
