Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden next to a picnic spot east of Springs Junction on the Lewis Pass road. The environment is absolutely pristinely natural New Zealand beech forest. Many of the tress in this area are elderly giants.

We decided to name it Birdland because, a). No country's natural wilderness better deserves the name, b). We were greeted with the warbling notes of a bellbird as we left our car and c). A South Island tit busied himself searching for lunch around our feet at the cache site.

The cache is a camouflaged 1.5 litre sistema snaplock container. When hidden, it contained;

  • A logbook
  • Pencil
  • Sharpener
  • Eraser
  • Wedding bubbles (yes, that's right, wedding bubbles)
  • A jandal keyring
  • A pool ball keyring
  • A flower bottle stopper
  • A nip dispenser
  • A squeegie face
