Good paths and road surface for most of the route then grass for a short bit.
Please note new cordinates - N53° 57.830' W002° 31.965' the new location is about 28 metres SE of the old one. There is no need to climb the fence.
This cache is situated in a position where it can be done in along with "middle of Nowhere" "middle knoll" "whitendale hanging stones"and "Langden Castle" Making a nice collection for a day out.
Although this cache is by the River Dunsop the Salmon that populate the feeder streams of the River Hodder are known as Hodder Salmon as it is the main river they flow into.
Although i have caught many Hodder Salmon in the past !I am now very active in the protection of these magnificent fish and the hatchery in which we rear the young salmon is very close by. so while you are enjoying the views just think for a moment about the epic journey of these migratory fish that swim from the river of their birth all the way to the rich feeding grounds of greenland then return to within yards of their birth place to continue the life cycle and they can often be seen on their return leaping over obsticals! A feat which earned them the Roman name "SALAR" latin for the "leaper"!
