Geocache Description:


Located along the Flatwoods Trail, a multi-use biking/hiking trail that originates near the hustle & bustle of Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in New Tampa. The cache container is an ammo can with room for a log book and trade items.

As we hiked down this trail we marveled at how, even in the midst of the constant urban growth going on in New Tampa, this typically Floridian wilderness is still ever-present and beautiful! Since the trail itself is almost completely unshaded, please plan your hiking/biking accordingly and be sure to bring plenty of liquid refreshments.

A parking lot for this end of the trail is located at N 28º 07.928, W082º 21.759. If the trail parking lot is closed, however, recommended parking is in the Chili's parking lot - N 28º 07.931, W082º 21.802. From there, follow the Bruce B. Downs Trail to the Flatwoods Trail and on to the cache!

Original cache contents include items such as M&M CDs #1-3, a NASCAR memo pad, a variety of bendy animals, keychains and other novelties along with some kiddie toys. You are seeking an ammo can.

Dense tree cover may affect your final GPS readings so, of course, you may have to use your geocaching intuition to find the actual cache. Please be sure to conceal the cache well when you rehide it and have fun!
