Geocache Description:

An easy multi-cache, walking on grass, less than .2 miles.

Parking is at the side of the road inside the white line. This is a one-stop parking cache. The cache has been re-located after some major tree-clearing in the area.

In the 1740's, there was a schism in the Presbyterian church in Pennington (then called "Pennytown"), and the "New Light" Presbyterians built a church here and used the grounds as a cemetery. After the Presbyterians reunited, the church building was vacant until 1774, when the first Methodist Episcopal congregation was formed. They used the church here until the early 19th century, when they built a new church in the center of Pennington village.

I used to bring my third graders to this spot for some rubbing and local history, and the cache has good things for 8 year olds.

The first part takes you to a lonely young woman from Long Island named Rebecca. She was one of the first Presbyterians in the Hopewell Valley. Two questions for children to think about: Why do you suppose we think she was lonely? What do you suppose happened to her? Walk 120 feet due east to locate the ammo box of goodies. Easiest for children.
Remember, "Leaves of 3, leave them be" and "Hairy rope, don't be a dope" even in winter.

Original contents: pencil box, 2 24-crayon sets, a set of neon crayons, box of chalk, metal balance tennis player, helium balloon (minus the helium), 2 sets of colored pencils, prism ball, Tracker sticker, magnet and camera.
Child-friendly, no bushwacking. BUT, BE CAREFUL OF POISON IVY NEAR THE CACHE SITE!
